First of all, it’s my blog so I can write whatever I want. Second, I’m a frustrated museologist who strongly dislikes the theoretical nature of both museums and art, preferring the practical approach. Third, my mom was an artist who taught me that art doesn’t always have to mean something. It can sometimes just be seen as expression. I’m not saying you can’t use language to interpret artwork, but sometimes it’s a distraction, and especially in a museum context, very pretentious. Why does art always have to be symbolic? Appreciate it for what it is. The broken toy guy…I do like his idea, I just don’t like his interpretation.
