As the never-ending 2016 U.S. presidential election continues in Philadelphia with the Democratic National Convention, a local museum has an exhibit all about presidents. Well, not exactly. It’s actually about presidential hair, which seems appropriate considering Donald Trump has the world’s most amazing (or hideous) combover. The Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University is showcasing locks of hair once belonging to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson in an exhibit called “Presidential Archives: Letters, Hair and Fossils”.
All these strands of hair came from a Philly attorney, who donated his collection to the museum after his death in 1860. Although it seems odd today, keeping hair clippings was quite common back in the 18th and 19th centuries. Hair from friends and loved ones was usually kept in lockets and rings. So who knows? Maybe a dedicated lawyer will snip whatever is living on Trump’s head and we’ll all be looking at it in a museum exhibit one day. So excited!
