Bringing back an old post for the holiday season. Only open once a year, the Aluminum Tree and Aesthetically Challenged Seasonal Ornament Museum (or the ATOM as its otherwise known) in Brevard, North Carolina started in 1997 to display strange Christmas decorations. It is the world’s only museum dedicated to the preservation and public display of vintage aluminum trees (like there would be more than one). Of the 37 vintage aluminum trees on display, probably my favorite is the Flamingo Tree. Other trees include themes like the Wizard of Oz, Elvis, and Tammy Faye Baker, to name a few, as well as numerous color wheels and revolving tree stands. So forget pine needles all over the floor and celebrate the true artificiality of the holidays. Merry Christmas!
