I know. Why not go to a completely new continent? Yes, I am speaking of Antarctica. I once worked with a guy who went there on “vacation”, so I guess people do go there. I wouldn’t know, because it’s not like I’ll ever get to leave my home continent again.
Believe it or not, they do have at least one museum I am aware of…the Antarctic Exploration Museum and Post Office in Port Lockroy on Goudier Island. A British research base (penguins are now the main subject) runs the small museum. As seen above, old food rations and anything used to survive extreme temperatures are on display. I wonder if that Cadbury Chocolate is still good? The rare Antarctic stamps that people put on precious Antarctic postcards to prove to everybody back home that “Yes, I’m in Antartica” help pay for the upkeep of the buildings.
