Once upon a time I visited Shropshire to see the town of Shrewsbury, but apparently there’s not much else going on as it is England’s most rural and sparsely populated county. That might explain why the Land of Lost Content Museum exists there, like a place time has literally forgotten. The name refers to the A.E. Housman poem, which is about something (I don’t know or care). But I could take a guess the poem isn’t about a hoarder’s paradise, because that’s what this places appears to be.
Museum owner Stella Mitchell began collecting 20th century British pop culture items about 40 years ago. When she married husband Dave in 1987 he promised her a museum in their wedding vows. So the Midlands is stuck with this junk shop/museum. If you are still upset about that one thing you threw out ten years ago, well, you’re bound to find it here. Just start looking through a random pile, if you don’t mind hundreds of mannequins smiling at you. Considering there are three floors of crap it’s gotta be somwhere!
