Since I was a kid, I’ve had this dream that one day I would be able to open my stomach and remove all the insides like a game of Operation gone wrong. It appears that at London’s Wellcome Collection this dream has become a reality. Well, at least it’s real in that it’s some sort of ceramic now kept in a display case for all curious eyes to gawk at.
Actually, anatomical models with removable parts like this one were quite popular starting in the 17th century for obstetric specialists and other medical doctors. So, no…it wasn’t a game. They were, like, totally studying or something.
