I know of a few funeral museums but I never thought there would be one dedicated to a topic so specific like funeral carriages. Like life (or death), getting to this museum in Barcelona is a bit of an adventure. First, you have to report to the city’s Municipal Funeral Services to get the location. There’s no visible street frontage, but the surrounding funeral businesses give you the idea that you’re in the right place. Once you find it, a guard takes you down to the locked exhibit in the basement where you will see a number of historical hearses and carriages. Guess what? Museu de Carrossess Funebres is FREE! Too bad the same can’t be said for death.
