I’ve been trying to avoid the Museum of Bad Art since I started THIS BELONGS IN A MUSEUM. But considering this month is about all things scary, there’s nothing worse than bad art, especially clown paintings. I know clowns have a bad association with serial killers, but I am always reminded of it anyway because my aunt was acquaintances with John Wayne Gacy. People always forget Gacy was quite popular in his community and had a lot of political fundraisers in his home. She would always say, “Yeah, his house had a strange smell but I thought it was because he was a bachelor.” Funny, but not really. While I go about my day thinking of Pogo the Clown and creepy crawlspaces, enjoy this lovely portrait of Jerez the Clown. It’s acrylic on canvas by the artist “Higgins” (which is funny…Gacy lived near Higgins Road in Chicago) and was acquired from Todd Farm Flea Market (as if there was any other place to find such a wonderful piece of art).
Word of advice – never trust a clown.
