Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines, Russia

in Historical, National

The Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines is located in the basement of a small technical university in Moscow. A green cinder block walled stairway leads down to a military-grade metal door. When the door is unlocked, you enter a room full of old games. The entrance fee is 300 rubles (about $10 USD) and you are given a small plastic cup of 15-Kopek coins. I’ve covered arcade games before, but I couldn’t help but share this one because it’s so interesting. The picture shows the Turnip Strength Tester, which comes from an old Russian story, where it took a grandpa, grandma, grandchild, dog, cat and mouse to pull out a turnip from the ground.
