Opened just last year, the New York Tattoo Museum is located in Staten Island’s Old Town neighborhood. On the upper floor of tattoo artist Dozer’s Island Tattoo parlor, tattoo fans can find three exhibits and two glass cases full of historic artifacts from the tattoo trade. It starts with the ancient Polynesian artwork’s introduction to the white man (otherwise known as Captain Cook) in the mid-1700s to the love of the Japanese telling stories on their bodies to tattoos in 20th century America. The cases are full of crystal tattoo machines, whatever that means. I only have one tattoo, which I now wish I had never gotten. In my opinion, most people who get tattoos are just desperate for attention. And no, I do not need your “likes” to validate my existence. But I’m sure my tumblr (who thinks and feels on his own) appreciates it.
