I vaguely remember the Pokémon craze, but I think I was too old for that shit. Besides the fact it took off in the 90s and anything associated with that time period is buried in the back of my brain next to some mixed tapes, flannel shirts and the beeper I had as a teenager. No, wait…I used to crank call other people’s beepers…that’s it. Oh, a world before Caller ID. Can we go back, please?
Anyway, back to Pokémon. A lady who calls herself Pikabellechu holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest Pokémon collection. I bet her parents are proud, even though they probably live upstairs. But after a quick search on youtube, I found a recent video of a girl named Lisa who has over 13,000 Pokémon items, which beats Pikamajig’s previous record. Who knew a bunch of hoarders (I shall call them Pika-holics) were fighting it out for craziest Japanese video game collector? Poor Princess Pikabellechu and her 8,000 collectables, just not good enough, even with a PikaBug car. But she should be proud in that many in the Pokey world consider her an expert. I mean after all, she’s not just a collector, it looks like she has turned into one of the characters.
