We wrap up “Tiny Museum Week” with the world’s only museum dedicated to the Victorian explorer, Sir Richard Burton. There’s just one catch – the museum is located in the loo of a private residence in St Ives, Cornwall in the UK. History buff Shanty Baba converted the 36 sq ft space into an exhibit (with audio!) commemorating Burton, who is most famous for translating the Kama Sutra and Arabian Nights into English. Did you know Burton supposedly knew 29 languages? How is that even possible!?! The museum opened just this past year, specifically the 19th of March, the day that marked the 195th anniversary of Burton’s birth. Apparently Mr. Baba wants it open for at least another 5 years. (you know, the BIG 200!) Because it’s located in a private home, entry is by appointment only yet there’s a bonus…refreshments such as Arabic coffee, Moroccan mint tea, and Indian chai are included. (although I’m not sure if they’re served in the loo or elsewhere in the house?)
