I thought I had forever retired the wax museum posts, but I had to share this picture with you. The Helwan Wax Museum, located in a suburb of Cairo, displayed wax sculptures of important figures from Egyptian history and culture, like Saladin, Cleopatra, President Gamal Abdel Nasser and the Bride of Henna at Night. The lack of air conditioning led to a great amount of damage to the sculptures. Since 2009, the museum has been closed for renovations. Only “God knows” when it will open again.
