In one of my last posts I mentioned I have been a pet sitter for over a decade. Once in awhile I get a crazy cat lady (shocker…I know) who lives in a house that should be featured on Hoarders. One customer literally lived in a um, store/museum/warehouse. Her entire apartment was full of shelves and cabinets displaying every kind of Hallmark collectible every produced. But it looks like she has some competition from the Jess Prudencio/David Hamrick Hallmark Ornament Museum in Warsaw, Indiana. Located in the back of a 12,000 square foot Gold Crown Hallmark store, the museum displays the only complete collection of Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments from the last forty years. There are over 4,000 ornaments in 30 oak cabinets, some include other holidays like Easter and Halloween as well as prototypes that were never officially produced. In my opinion, it’s all crap, but supposedly a 1980 mint-condition “Frosty Friend” (that’s the one with the Eskimo & white polar bear sitting on an ice cube reading a book) is now worth at least $500 (original price $6.50). Hey, if you’re invited to any non-family Christmas parties this year, make sure to get a good look at the tree. Some of those ornaments might be worth something. And don’t tell the curator in the video you stole an ornament. I have a feeling he wouldn’t approve.
