I thought photographs steal your soul, but apparently pirates do as well. The Pirate Soul Museum has the largest and most authentic collection of pirate artifacts EVER! The museum was originally located in Key West, but like a true pirate, the unburied treasures moved to St. Augustine in 2010. In the 48 exhibits (why not a round number like 50? Way to be different, Captain Jack!) you will see Blackbeard’s blunderbuss aka muzzle-loading firearm, one of only two remaining authentic Jolly Roger flags in the world, the oldest known wanted poster (from 1696) demanding the capture of Pirate Henry Every, Thomas Tew’s original treasure chest (the only known authentic pirate treasure chest in the world) and Captain Kidd’s final journal as he voyaged from New York to execution in England.
Make sure to buy a pirate sippy cup for the baby or old person in your life. Fill it with the Castaway, everyone’s favorite pirate booty drink:
- 2oz Dark Rum
- 1oz Banana Liqueur
- 1oz Cream of Coconut
- Combine ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker and shake well
- Strain into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass (or that sippy cup)
