Our first visit to the country of Cyprus, I think. The Von World Pens Hall is a museum dedicated to…yeah, you’ll never guess…the history of pens. In the Internet age, actual writing instruments are slowly disappearing from our lives. If you’re not a student forced to practice cursive or take a test, then I’m afraid you have no reason to pick up a pen and piece of paper anymore. Why would you do that when there’s computers, smart phones and freakin’ iPads? Oh, wait…I’m writing this post on my computer where it will be read on other computers. Anyway, some of the museum’s 2000 items date as far back as the 15th and 16th centuries. There are Victorian pens and pencils as well as typewriters, stamps, seals and inkpots. Now turn off your computer (or whatever gadget you’re using), get out a pen or pencil and start writing…or drawing. Do something!
