March 1st is a very important date. In 1781, the U.S. adopted the Articles of Confederation, our first constitution and a total failure. In 1803, Ohio officially became a state and a non-destination for tourists everywhere. And in 1994, Justin Bieber was born and will most likely be forgotten by 2014. Today also marks the holidays of St. David’s Day (Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant), Hug a Librarian Day, Pancake Day, Self Injury Awareness Day…and National Pig Day!!!
The World’s Largest Pig Museum is in Stuttgart, Germany (of course). It features over 40,000 pigs in 28 theme rooms. One room alone has 2000 piggy banks. I hope they’re filled with Euros. Located in a former slaughterhouse, the Pig Museum starts with zoology, then takes a look at the place of pigs in art, crafts, culture and culminates in mythology and other symbolic significance. There’s even a Pig and Sexuality room (I know…something you’ve always wanted to learn about).
And as you can see from the picture below, the pigs are well-organized just as you would expect them to be. This is Germany after all.
