Spring is a few days away so why not get a bit chilly with the Aurora Ice Museum? Located 60 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska the museum uses a patented absorption chiller to keep the temps an icy 20 degrees Fahrenheit all year. Visitors are allowed to rent overnight stays in the gallery themed rooms. World champion ice carvers Steve and Heather Brice created various pieces from 1,000 tons of ice. There’s a Stoli ice bar for the thousands of tourists; overhead chandeliers made of individually carved ice crystals which change color every six seconds mimicking the northern lights; countless sculptures including a gigantic chess set and life sized jousting knights on horseback, an ice fireplace; a circular staircase; a Christmas tree; a polar bear bedroom (see above); an igloo; and of course…an ice outhouse. I know you have always wanted to pee in a building made of ice. So here’s your chance.
